Carpet grass or Philippine grass?

Carpet grass copes with some shade and is the usual choice for family lawns. Philippine grass is finer and denser but needs full sun. Show us photos of the garden at the nursery and we'll tell you which suits it.

Does artificial grass get hot?

In direct afternoon sun it can get hot to the touch, so many people use it in shaded spots, on balconies and on rooftops, where real grass struggles anyway.

How much does a new lawn cost?

It depends on the area and the grass you choose. Bring rough measurements and photos to the nursery, and our staff will price it on the spot.

Which grass suits your garden?

The three most people choose between, in general terms:

Carpet grass

Look: Broad leaves, soft green
Sun: Sun to part shade
Upkeep: Mow often in rainy months
Good for: Family lawns, most houses

Philippine grass

Look: Fine, dense and soft
Sun: Needs full sun
Upkeep: Grows slower, trim less
Good for: A neat, premium lawn

Artificial grass

Look: Always even and green
Sun: Anywhere, even indoors
Upkeep: No mowing or watering
Good for: Shade, balconies, rooftops

Water it in
New grass needs watering every day for the first couple of weeks, unless it rains, while the roots take.

Keep off for a while
Let it settle before heavy use, so it roots evenly.

Mow little and often
In the rainy months carpet grass grows fast; cutting too short at once browns it.
